Raju Bhopi

Raju Bhopi is a folk artist. Bhopi belongs to the Bhopa community, which traditionally recites the epic of folk deities via the scroll (phad). Instead of following the path of a conventional Bhopa singer, she decided to form a small band with her brother and sing devotional songs. The brother-sister duo became very well known in the surrounding villages. Bhopi now performs internationally, including in Germany, Hungary and Serbia. Her husband is not gainfully employed and the family relies on her alone for their livelihood. Since March 2020, Bhopi has not had the opportunity to perform due to contact restrictions and event cancellations.
