Truike van der Poel
Truike van der Poel is a mezzo-soprano. She studied classical philology in Leiden as well as voice in The Hague and choral conducting in Rotterdam. After her conducting exam she was a lecturer for choral conducting at the Musikhochschule Hannover until 2001. In addition to baroque and classical oratorio, she has distinguished herself in the field of new music and has given guest performances at international events such as the Warsaw Autumn, the Davos Festival, Musica Viva, the Alte Oper and IRCAM. Van der Poel regularly participated in the Balthasar Neumann Choir (Thomas Hengelbrock) and the Schola Heidelberg (Walter Nussbaum), and collaborated as a guest soloist with Ensemble L'Itinéraire and Ensemble Resonanz. She has sung as a soloist in premieres of vocal chamber music by Salvatore Sciarrino, Carola Bauckholt, René Leibowitz, and many others, and is a member of the Cologne Thürmchen Ensemble as a "voice". Since 2007 she is a member of the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart.
