Oğuz Büyükberber

Oğuz Büyükberber is a Turkish-born clarinetist whose musical work moves between contemporary composition, improvisation, Turkish music and jazz. He studied bass clarinet and completed several composition courses. Meanwhile, Büyükberber records performances at major festivals throughout Europe such as the North Sea, Traumzeit, Akbank and London Jazz Festival. He recorded nine CDs and was involved in over fifty album productions, including releases on Blue Note and ECM. Today Büyükberber lives in Amsterdam and collaborates with international musicians including Simon Nabatov, Gerry Hemingway, Guus Janssen, Claudio Puntin, Wolfgang Reisinger. In 2012 he received a Carte Blanche from the Bimhuis in Amsterdam and in 2011 he was named a Selmer Artist. In 2018, ECM released a CD by the Marc Sinan Company, featuring Büyükberber in duo with Marc Sinan.
