Johanna Vargas

Johanna Vargas is a Colombian soprano and a permanent member of the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart. Vargas is one of the most sought-after sopranos for contemporary music. She completed her vocal studies at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe. She also completed a master's degree at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts. Vargas has participated in various premieres, festivals, CDs (Wergo, Naxos)-, as well as radio and television recordings and has collaborated with Sir Simon Rattle, Emilio Pomárico, Dennis Russell Davies, Peter Rundel, Beat Furrer, Bernhard Lang, Johannes Kreidler, Wolfgang Rihm, Klangforum Wien, Ascolta Ensemble, Ensemble Musikfabrik, among others. She is Artist in Residence at the Cité des Arts de Paris (2022) as well as the Festival de Royaumont (2021-2023).
