Damian Le Bas
Damian le Bas (1963-2017) was born in Sheffield U.K.. He studied for his master's degree at the Royal College of Art in London. He was one of the 16 artists who were part of the first Roma Pavilion, Paradise Lost, at the Venice Biennale 2007. Together with his wife, artist Delaine le Bas, he is currently involved in two long-term projects. Safe European Home?/ Frontier De Luxe, started in 2010 with a first installation at the Vienna Parliament building in May/ June, Gypsy Revolution combines historical documentation with contemporary art created by the le Bas and other artists. In recent years, Damian has worked extensively with maps and cartography as a cross-disciplinary artist. He has exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale 2007 and the Prague Biennale 2005 and 2007, as well as The Third Edition Of The Project Biennale Of Contemporary Art D-O Ark Underground in Bosnia & Herzegovina 2015 and the Gothenburg International Biennale For Contemporary Art 2015. He has lived and worked in various locations in the UK and Europe.
