AMET
Yaoundé-born Elsa M'Bala, known as AMET, is a sound artist living in Berlin. In her live podcasts, she shares field recordings and interviews with the audience in a mix of DJ-ing and radio show. She has performed internationally at venues including the Akademie der Künste Berlin, Casino Luxembourg-Forum d'art contemporain, Dak'Art Biennale, and Gessnerallee Zurich. AMET's musical journey and her reflections on cultural background, gender and spirituality challenge prejudices and musical attributions. In her practice, she breaks with Western classical music and searches for new forms of representation for non-Western sound systems in graphic scores. With the playful use of electronic amplification and a unique voice, AMET poignantly addresses narratives of inclusion and visibility. Her work is characterized by intensive collaboration with musicians, dancers, artists and performers of diverse backgrounds.
