Miriam García
Miriam García is a singer, musician, actress, researcher, educator and cultural mediator. Her vocal work is based on the exploration and interpretation of musical expressions derived from anonymous and traditional songs of Argentina and other Latin American countries. Miriam was a student and collaborator of the well-known Argentine singer and song collector Leda Valladares. This activity led her to appear as a singer in Valladares' recording productions and to participate in various editorial works and publications. Since 1999 Miriam has held the chair of "Andean singing with caja, ancestral voice and percussion techniques" (Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas, Universidad de Buenos Aires). In 2000, Miriam and the group La Tinya released their sound research album Cantos milenarios de la tierra for which she received the Trimarg Prize awarded by Unesco in the category of Authentic Ethnic and/or Folkloric Music.
She has collaborated with numerous artists, including Jorge Preloran, Silvia Iriondo, Kamaruko Percusión, Gustavo Nasuti, Soneros de Calamaní, José Tcherkaski, Chancha vía circuido, Go do gong, and Serge Bulat.
