Composer Drums Improvisation
Max Andrzejewski (*1986) is a composer and improvising percussionist based in Berlin.
His energetic musical work can be found at the interface between contemporary art music and improvisation. The "maverick aesthete" (Süddeutsche Zeitung) Andrzejewski studied percussion at the MHS Cologne and the UdK Berlin and developed into a sought-after composer in parallel to his work as a percussionist.
He has received commissions from the Acht Brücken Festival Cologne, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Beethovenfest Bonn, the Ensemble Resonanz Hamburg, the Podium Festival Esslingen, the Chamber Music Festival Regensburg, the Orchester im Treppenhaus, the Berliner Ensemble, the aDevantgarde Festival Munich, the Thalia Theater Hamburg, the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Theater Basel, the Maxim-Gorki-Theater Berlin and many more.
He has released five albums with his own band Max Andrzejewski's Hütte, two of them with a guest vocal ensemble, and won the New German Jazz Award in 2013. His other projects include the expressive duo TRAINING and the chamber music ensemble Stemeseder / Andrzejewski light / tied.
Concert tours have taken Andrzejewski to Azerbaijan, Israel, Russia, Cuba, the USA, Serbia, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Egypt, Austria, Serbia, Switzerland, Poland and Qatar. His music has appeared on numerous albums on a wide variety of labels.
