Tune back into PANTOPIA on 20 August 2022. It might change the way you hear the world.

The PANTOPIA MUSIC project researches and publishes contemporary transtraditional musical forms. It confronts an ethnically, colonially and centrally shaped perception of music with new forms of representation, mediation and production of contemporary, traditional and transtraditional musical works. The sum of possible musical utopias shall find a common place under the umbrella of PANTOPIA MUSIC both online and in the real.

 

PANTOPIA MUSIC produces digital albums for contemporary global music and digitally frames them with numerous media. Both archive materials and new compositions created in connection with the project are presented. This project is supported by close collaboration with renowned archives and cooperation with numerous radio stations dedicated to the cultivation of specific musical cultures in many places around the world. In addition, PANTOPIA MUSIC works closely with curators and musicians from different places, who not only have a feeling for the respective, local music scenes.

 

 

The PANTOPIA MUSIC project explores and promotes the world of contemporary trans-traditional forms of music. It juxtaposes a perception of music that is molded by ethnic, colonial and centralist mindsets with new forms of presentation, mediation and production of contemporary, traditional and trans-traditional musical compositions. The myriad of potential musical utopias is destined to find a communal home - both online and in the physical world - under the umbrella of PANTOPIA MUSIC.
 
PANTOPIA MUSIC produces digital albums for global music of the present day and digitally enframes them with various media. Both archive material and new compositions created in conjunction with the project will be presented. This venture has come to fruition thanks to close collaboration with renowned archives and cooperation with numerous radio stations, all of which are dedicated to the nurturing of specific musical cultures in various corners of the world. Not only that, but PANTOPIA MUSIC also works hand in hand with curators and musicians from various locations who bring much more to the table than their natural affinity with the respective local music scenes.

PANTOPIA MUSIC is a project of the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the Ethnological Museum of the National Museums in Berlin in cooperation with the Humboldt Forum Foundation Berlin and the Marc Sinan Company.
