Sergei Zagny (Moscow, 1960) is a Russian composer of interdisciplinary works that have been performed internationally. He studied composition and music theory at the P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow from 1983 to 1991, where he has also taught since 1992. His awards include the John Cage First Russian Prize (1992). His music has been performed in many European countries as well as in Japan and the USA. In addition to his work as a composer, Zagny improvises on unconventional instruments, organ and piano. He conducted the Small Garden Orchestra in Moscow from 1992 to 1996 and worked at the Theremin Center for Electroacoustic Music. He has also written articles and poems for Russian and American publications.
