Ruben Tenenbaum

Violin

Ruben Tenenbaum, who was drawn to music at a young age, first learned classical violin. However, it was the sounds of the Orient that led him to travel and settle in Istanbul at an early age. There he studied violin with Serdar Pazarcıoğlu and Kemal Demir, attended the meşk of Necati Çelik and the music circles (cemiyet) of Istanbul. He also deepened his knowledge of makam with Derya Türkan and Socrates Sinopoulos during the seminars organized by Labyrinth in Crete. Although Ottoman music and rebetiko make up most of his baggage, he nevertheless does not neglect the search for new sounds and forms and continues to explore the world of improvised music, especially within the framework of the Kemik Trio (Vincent Posty, Anıl Eraslan). He performs regularly in Turkey, France, Belgium and Greece with groups such as Lâmekân (Tristan Driessens-Robbe Kieckens), Taş Plak Kumpnyası, Mehtap (Lior Blindermann), Zografi (Cyrille Auchapt-Gürkan Özkan), Tevazu and others.
